Apologies are being issued to GMIT students directly affected after tutors made personal comments about them following a virtual presentation.

In a video being circulated online, one person is heard asking whether a student has 'something wrong with her.'

Galway Mayo Institute of Technology President Dr Orla Flynn has also apologised.

Reporter with the Irish Independent, Gabija Gataveckaite, says some of the comments were very hurtful.

"For example during the lectures questioned whether one student had ADHD because 'he's always hyper'.

"They said one group of students 'were so painful to be listening to', and suggested that one female student 'had something wrong with her'.

"One of the lecturers said she would have to start 'drilling my teeth' because some students 'were so painful to be listening to.'"
