As the Dáil prepares to take a two month long summer break today, the Government has been accused of failing to deal with cost of living issues facing families throughout the country.
The Social Democrats say it's unacceptable that government ministers should take an excessively long break given the financial crisis people are going through.
Social Democrats TD, Jennifer Whitmore, says families are finding it difficult to keep their heads above water:
"It is unacceptable that the government is taking a break for the summer for two months this week, without actually dealing with the emergency issues that are facing families on a daily basis. We have families and workers are really struggling to keep their head above water and the government is failing to address that issue."
