The government has been accused of failing to deliver on its commitment to youth mental health.
The Children’s Rights Alliance has published its latest annual report card, and says persistent lack of action and progress on commitments from government to some of the most marginalised and vulnerable children in the State has resulted in deepening inequalities
CEO of the Alliance, Tanya Ward, says while some progress has been made, youth mental health receives the lowest grade in its Report Card for the second year in a row.
"The situation has deteriorated since last year. We're looking at a staggering 4,100 children on a CAMHS waiting list for their first CAMHS appointment, that's from September 2022.
"The other thing we know is that the government is still continuing, when some children end up in A+E they still end up in adult psychiatric units."
