Regulations which would have raised it to 67 next year and 68 in 2028 will be repealed in a social welfare bill next week.

The Commission on the Pension Age will continue to deliberate on what the pension age should be.

Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys made the announcement in the Dáil last night.

"As part of the social welfare bill which will come before the houses next week, the pension age will be kept at 66, and the planned increases in the age to 67 in January, 2021, and to 68 in January 2028 will both be repealed."
