Up to 500 people could need critical care by next month under the worst case projections by NPHET.
It also predicts there could be up to 12,000 cases a day in a pessimistic situation. Professor Paul Moynagh from Maynooth University says health officials have been to slow to act in certain situations, like antigen testing:"Very slow to adopt that and the big criticism I would have is that if the sign saying it's right to use antigen testing now, that same science was there a number many months ago that said it's better late than never but it is coming very late to the game."
