The Government is being criticised for promising a referendum on women's place in the home, without meaningful steps to improve gender equality.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin, has confirmed a vote will take place to remove reference to mothers in the constitution.
He told the Oireachtas Committee on Gender Equality earlier this month that he couldn't commit to a timeline due to the complexity of the issue.
However, Columnist with the Sunday Times and Daily Mail, Brenda Power, says taking words out of the constitution won't change the reality of women's lives.
