The Government is to appoint 24 new judges in the coming weeks.
While there may be a further 20 appointed later in the year, bringing the total number of judges to 217.
The appointments are aimed at trying to clear the significant backlog of cases built up after the Covid-19 pandemic and to see through the setting up of dedicated family courts.
It comes on the back of a recommendation from the Judicial Planning Work Group which Justice Minister Simon Harris has accepted.
