The Government will launch its revised, €165bn National Development Plan in Cork this afternoon.
Cabinet Ministers are gathering in Páirc Uí Chaoimh to to sign off on the plan for capital spending over the next decade.
It's expected to commit to Dublin's Metrolink and to BusConnects for Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford.
It will also commit to building the Cork Limerick M20 motorway and to a repackaged Northern Ring Road as part of the Cork Northern Transport Project.
Labour Party transport spokesperson, Duncan Smith, says a timeline is needed for the much delayed Metrolink project.
"It's absolutely vital. Swords is the third largest town in Ireland. It's the only town in top 20 towns by population that is not connected with a rail link.
"It's absolutely incredible that a town of this size, that is so close to Dublin Airport and is so close to Dublin City centre does not have a rail link of any kind.
"If we're to develop Swords into the future then we need this rail link."
