Grants of more than €25,000 are to be offered to households as part of a new scheme to 'deep retrofit' homes.
The Irish Times is reporting the new 'Home Energy Upgrade Scheme' will be announced by Environment Minster Eamon Ryan tomorrow.
It will see private homeowners paid 45 to 51% of the cost of a deep retrofit which would bring their properties up to a B2 energy rating, something which could see their energy bills cut by as much as half.
According to the paper the scheme will also include a network of 'one stop shops' that will offer a simple, end to end service for homeowners.
