Health authorities say they are prepared for more cases of monkeypox.
The first case was confirmed here on Saturday while another possible case is also being investigated.
Infectious disease specialist Professor Sam McConkey says while more cases are inevitable it can't be compared to the Covid pandemic.
"This is completely different.
"this is going to require a through health sector response with diagnostic tests which are up and running, with contact tracing and isolation plans, with some public awareness that we already have.
"All hospitals and GPS need to b e able to recognise it and send the samples.
"The previous pandemic was all of society, all of the government, all of the economy was impacted in an unprecedented way - this will just be a focused health sector response."
