The Health Minister says government is monitoring the situation with Strep A closely.
The HSE is still working to confirm whether the death of a young child in the North East and North Dublin healthcare region is linked to the bacterial infection.
Common signs of a serious case of Strep A include fatigue or a fever that persists, despite treating your child with calpol or paracetamol.
Stephen Donnelly says his thoughts are with the family of the young girl who's believed to have died from the bacterial infection:
"If they are worried and if the symptoms aren't resolving through normal treatment, things like paracetamol that they should contact, they should contact their GP. It's something we were monitoring closely. Obviously our thoughts are with the family of the child who recently recently passed away and there's ongoing and testing being done on that, on that case."
