Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly will be presented with a report detailing the controversial secondment of Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan today.
The CMO won't take on the role of Professor of Public Health Leadership and Strategy at Trinity College Dublin
Instead he will now retire from the public service on July 1st.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin says public spending like this must be transparent.
"Lessons have to be learned here, but I think transparency from the outset would have been appropriate and particularly in relation to the all of the aspects of this.
"And I think it's regrettable given the fact that Tony has been very strong role in terms of bringing us through the pandemic.
"But there has to be a process, and I think there has to be full transparency in relation to all of these issues."
