Healthcare workers were assaulted over 12 times a day across the past 15 months.
The Irish Examiner is reporting today that HSE staff faced 5,672 cases of verbal, physical or sexual abuse in the workplace since the start of 2021.
The HSE figures show that nurses bore the brunt of the assaults with 540 incidents reported in the first 3 months of this year.
The INMO are warning that the number of incidents may be underreported and the true figure may be higher.
