The Higher Education Minister is giving his backing to a proposal for the Leaving Cert results to be issued in June.
The Irish Universities Association wants students to be given their results by the end of June followed by college offers in July.
It feels this would allow students more time to consider their options and find accommodation.
And Minister Simon Harris agrees:
"No, I think is an excellent idea and of course I would from my sectors point of view, I know Minister Foley and her sector obviously have considerations to make around the logistics of that, but I think that's one thing we need to do if possible. I also do think directly in my own brief, we're going to start changing the process in terms of the pathways for school leavers to get into college."
