Homeowners will pay an extra €2,000 to build their new home as a result of the new construction levy.
That's according to Independent TD Sean Canney.
The government is bringing in a 10% levy on concrete blocks, to raise funds for mica and pyrite redress schemes.
Deputy Canney says it's ill-timed and will be passed on to the new homeowner.
