The Housing Minister wants a clampdown on homeowners demanding 'go away' money to stop them objecting to developer's plans.
Darragh O'Brien has written to the Justice Minister and Attorney General asking them to consider the matter.
A report in today's Irish Independent says he's asking for input into new planning laws making such demands an offence.
The Minister says the price of such payoff demands is ultimately being paid by 'first time buyers' and communities that need more homes, which are hit by delays in the appeals system.
