The HSE is warning sun-seekers to protect their skin over the bank holiday weekend.
They're launching the SunSmart campaign to remind people of the dangers of UV exposure.
Skin cancer is the most common cause of cancer in Ireland, accounting for 13-thousand cases a year.
Dermatology consultant Professor Anne Marie Tobin, says you don't have to be in direct sunlight to be at risk:
"With regard to the sun in Ireland, from the first of April to the end of September the sun is high enough in the sky to give you sufficient UV radiation at ground level to damage your skin. Even on a cloudy day in Ireland, people should protect the skin from UV radiation".
