The HSE says Monkeypox does not spread easily between people but can affect anyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender.
However, the biggest risk of spreading the virus is through physical contact, including sexual contact.
The vaccine will be prioritised for gay and bisexual men who have sex with men and transgender people, who are currently most at risk of catching the virus.
Professor Fiona Lyons, Clinical Lead of the HSE Sexual Health Programme, says many in those communities won't hesitate to get the jab.
