Including more children in a free scheme could mean there'll be slightly more waiting times in general practice.
Six and seven-year-olds are now eligible for free GP care.
Stranorlar GP Dr Denis McCauley thinks access to GP free at the point of contact is a good idea.
However, he's concerned it could affect capacity:
"I think it's a pretty straightforward registration process. Now, unfortunately on the other side of the fence, there is an issue really with the capacity in General Practice. It's undoubted that giving this amount of Medical Doctor Visit Cards will increase the workload, and that will be difficult to be absorbed in General Practice at present".
