Inflation has hit a 38-year high.
According to the CSO, for May the rate is at 7.8% year-on-year.
The largest increases are down to housing, transport and energy costs.
John Lowe is from MoneyDoctors.ie - he says it's a global issue:
"Basically it's all down to fuel costs, electricity bills are up 41% higher, gas bills have climbed to 61%. Even the home heating oil is over 102% higher than it was a year ago as a result of unfortunately, the war in Ukraine and what's happening over there, it's affecting the entire global economies."
