It's according to the latest report from the United Nations
The Human Development Index takes in factors such as life expectancy, expected years of schooling and gross national income per capita to rank 189 countries.
Ireland climbed seven places and was second only to Norway in the list.
The UK is 13th, Canada is 16th and the US is down three places to 17th.
Niger is the last on the list of 189 countries
