The Irish Pharmacy Union says a rise in Covid-19 cases means there is an increased need for vulnerable groups to get their booster doses.
It's urging those over 65 or who are immuno-compromised who are due a second booster vaccine to come forward.
NIAC's recommended this age group get a third booster in the autumn, when people aged 50 to 64 will get their second booster vaccine.
IPU President, Dermot Twomey pharmacists have reached a milestone on vaccination this week:
"This week, pharmacies have administered a million COVID vaccines since the inauguration of pharmacy being involved in the vaccination program. So we're talking since June of last year, and it's really a phenomenal number of people have been vaccinated through community pharmacy which shows the benefit of using pharmacy in this program."
