The Irish Travel Agents Association says the sector is being 'demonised' during the ongoing Covid crisis.
The government is now advising everyone coming from Britain to take an antigen test for five days after arrival.
All overseas passengers also have to test negative for Covid before they arrive - with a professionally conducted test.
Paul Hackett, who's president of the association, insists international travel is safe:
"We seem hell bent on demonising international travel if it's by air or by sea, but when it's coming in from Northern Ireland where there are no restrictions on travel from mainland UK into Northern Ireland, and we have road and rail and no effective border there; it could be coming in that way too. So we have massive safety protocols around international travel; we have got to keep international travel open. That's what must happen. It is seriously impacting sales. It is seriously impacting consumer confidence in travel."
