Irishman David Joyce has been identified as the person shot dead by police in the UK last week.
The 38-year-old from Galway was shot by officers after charging at them with a knife at Milton Keynes train station on Tuesday afternoon.
It was reported to police a man was carrying a gun at the train station and an armed response unit was sent to the scene.
Journalist Enda Brady says investigations into the incident are continuing,
"What detectives are doing at the moment, obviously, the IOPC the police complaints people. They're investigating this they've got hold of the bodycam footage that the officers were wearing. They've also been looking at CCTV footage, the CCTV area out the front of Milton Keynes train station, so they're piecing together everything that has happened".
