An Irishman has become the first person to row from New York to Galway.

Former professional rugby player, Damien Browne, began his journey leaving Manhattan on the 14th of June.

Browne landed at Furbo Beach at around 1am this morning when his rowing boat was forced onto the rocks.

Emergency responders rescued him from the shore, after spending 112 days at sea in total.
