Education Minister Norma Foley is presenting a new action plan on anti-bullying measures to cabinet this morning, which will replace the current programme introduced in 2013.
UNESCO Chair of Tackling Bullying In Schools and Cyberspace Professor John O’Higgins Norman says many teachers feel under-equipped to address the issue:
"We know that about half of schools in the country are doing really, really well when it comes to tackling bullying and cyber bullying among students. The other half of the schools are struggling, to different degrees and there's a certain level of anxiety amongst some teachers about how best to go about tackling bullying and cyber bullying without making the situation worse."
