Cork Senator Jerry Buttimer has apologised for attending an event that breached public health guidelines on Wednesday night.
The Fine Gael senator attended the Oireachtas Golf Society's 50th anniversary event at the Station House Hotel in Clifden in Galway, despite this week's public health guidelines saying that only 50 people were allowed to attend an indoor gathering.
On Twitter last night Senator Buttimer said that he should not have attended in light of the updated public health advice.
He went on to say it was a lapse of judgement on his part, for which he sincerely apologised.
I attended an event at the Station House Hotel in Connemara last night. In light of the updated public health advice, I should not have attended. I apologise for this, in doing so I am mindful of the tremendous effort made by everyone since March to try & beat this virus,
