Justice Minister Helen McEntee says education is key to ending gender based violence.
Men's Development Network is holding a conference today on ending the issue and teaching men and boys.
It's including speakers talking about how it's up to men to end demand for prostitution, as well as gender norms.
Minister McEntee says everyone has to work to end the issue of violence:
"It is through education. I'm confident that we will encourage both men and boys, women and girls to fulfill their aspirations unconstrained by narrow stereotypes. Together we are working to bring about a change in long established societal behaviors and attitudes to make everyone face up to the excuses that we as a society make for unacceptable behaviors and to motivate us to speak out against them."
