The Justice Minister is pushing ahead with plans to name and shame tax defaulters who make settlements with the Criminal Assets Bureau.
It comes as the CAB confirms criminals were deprived of almost €11 million last year on the back of its investigations.
That includes over €5 million that was returned to six victims of crypto-currency theft.
Barry Ward, a Fine Gael senator and barrister, says there are also plans to reduce the seven-year wait before the CAB can dispose of seized assets:
"It's appropriate to say to people that if you are going to make a profit on the back of illegal activity, you should expect to suffer the consequences of that. I don't really have a difficulty with the notion that we are expediting that process, making it faster and making it more efficient and making those who are responsible for us and known to the public"
