Children in South Kerry with mental health problems have been offered video calls with a doctor based in Abu Dhabi, as the area is unable to fill a vacant consultant post.
It follows a review of CAMHS in South Kerry back in January, which found hundreds of children received 'risky' treatment from a doctor.
The HSE told the Irish Examiner it 'doesn't expect to have a permanent consultant in the short-term'.
In the meantime, patients have been given the option of partaking in an online video consultation, with a doctor in the UAE.
