Marie Sherlock, Labour Party Senator and Spokesperson for Employment Affairs is calling for the immediate introduction of maximum temperature limits for outdoor and indoor work in Ireland.
It comes after Met Éireann issued a Status Yellow Weather Warning, with temperatures set to reach 32 degrees Celsius in parts of the country.
Senator Sherlock says that although the good weather is a one off novelty in Ireland, it is still very difficult for office bases employees to work in the heat:
"Temperatures hitting in excess of 30 degrees may feel like a one off for Ireland, but the reality is that for certain workers, they are very difficult to work in in the absence of adequate ventilation, air conditioning and particularly for outdoor workers in the absence of easily available water and shade."
