Lack Of Affordable Housing Remains Huge Challenge For People Working To Leave Homelessness

That's one of the findings of a two year long study of 18 people by the Cork Simon Community published today.

All participants were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless at the time they secured a job, while more than half staying in emergency accommodation.

71% of participants were still in employment after two years, with participants gaining independent housing, enhanced social inclusion and self-esteem as well as a greater ability to manage their addictions during the study.
