It's D-Day for Leaving Cert students across Cork.
As usual the first exam will be English Paper 1 from half past 9.
Due to public health measures there are more than 5 thousand exam centres being used to allow for social distancing.
This year sixth year students have the option of sitting the exams, accepting calculated grades or choosing both.
Career Guidance Counsellor Brian Mooney is urging students to make sure they show up and take the written exam.
"The first piece of advice I'd give to every student is - if you're registered for a written paper do turn up. It really matters.
"At the end of the day when the results come out on the third of September you'll appreciate the fact that you did go to the bother of sitting the written paper.
'Do not depend on the assessed grade if you're depending on high CAO points and are in a competitive course choice."
