Debenhams announced the closures of 11 of its stores including two in Cork in April
The challenge from Solidarity TD Mick Barry comes as a delegation of Debenhams workers from Cork travel to Government buildings to meet with Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Junior Enterprise Minister Robert Troy to discuss the ongoing dispute between them and their former employer.
Deputy Barry will call on the Government to change Ireland's liquidation laws to give staff the status of priority creditors and to ban tactical liquidations.
