Life expectancy among men and women in Ireland is continuing to increase.
Men can expect to live until the age of 81, while women can expect to outlive men by 3 years.
According to the Health in Ireland, key trends report 2022 much of the increase in life expectancy is due to significant reductions in major causes of death such as circulatory diseases and cancer.
The population of those aged 65 and over has increased by 36% since 2012.
