A man accused of ramming several Garda cars while there were 6 children in his van has been remanded in custody for a further three weeks.
The man who cannot be named for legal reasons appeared at Cork District Court today via video link.
The incident happened on the 28th of September when Gardaí attempted to stop the driver of a man in a van.
The driver rammed several Garda cars and drove the wrong way down the main slip road onto the N40 in an attempt to escape.
Gardaí eventually brought the incident to a close with the use of a stinger device on Carrs Hill.
Six children ranging from five months to 10 years old and their mothers were all brought to Cork University Hospital. The court heard they were not injured during the incident but were very traumatized.
Garda Paul Drummy gave evidence last Friday of the man's charges, which include false imprisonment and breaching a protection order and remanded the man in custody.
Today in court, Judge Olan Kelleher further remanded him in prison for three weeks to allow for directions from the DPP.
Defence Council Frank Buttimer told the court that his client had also filed an appeal to the High Court for bail. The accused is due to appear again in court on the 27th of October.
