A 28-year-old man has appeared in court charged with making a death threat online against the Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald.
Richard McGreevey, of Whitechurch Place, Rathfarnham, Dublin, is alleged to have made the threat against her three days ago on the social media platform TikTok.
The court was told the person who made the threat wore a balaclava in the video.
While the court was dealing with his bail application, Mr. McGreevey said he was angry that day and didn’t mean to put it up, nor did he mean for it to go viral.
His bail application was refused and he was remanded in custody.
