A man in his 20s remains in custody on suspicion of murder, after two separate incidents in Sligo Town this week.

Two murder investigations have been launched, after the body of 58 year old Michael Snee was found at his apartment last night.

It follows the discovery of 42 year old Aidan Moffitt's remains the previous evening.

Gardai are also examining an attack on another man last weekend, which left him with serious injuries.

Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken from Sligo Garda Station has issued an appeal for information:

"I have commenced two separate murder investigations, a Senior Investigation Officer is in charge of each investigation. Substantial Garda resources are dedicated to these investigations, with support from regional and national units."
