A man who survived an attempt on his life in Tallaght in Dublin yesterday, is 'very well known to Gardaí.'
He was shot with a high power sub-machine gun in the Killinarden area at about 6.20pm yesterday evening.
Despite being hit at least once, his injuries are not life-threatening and he is recovering in hospital.
Irish Daily Star Crime Correspondent, Michael O'Toole, says the victim, in his 30s, will not be surprised by the attempted hit:
"He was released from prison in July of this year, he was serving a long sentence in connection with a shooting of another man. Though he was originally charged with attempted murder, that charge was dropped that he was later convicted of firearms offenses, but he is a notorious criminal from the greater Dublin area. He's very well known to Gardaí."
