A man with a history of violence against women has been handed a life sentence for murdering his girlfriend at her home in Dublin.
Gavin Murphy of Coultry Drive in Ballymun stabbed 24-year-old Jennifer Poole seven times with a kitchen knife on April 17th last year.
The 30-year-old, father-of-one has a previous conviction for attacking an ex-girlfriend.
Outside court this afternoon, Jennifer’s brother, Jason, had this message for anyone in an abusive relationship:
"We will never let Jenny's memory fade and will continue to fight in her name. Domestic violence in Ireland has become far too common, and it's not okay. We, as a family, call it all women and men that find themselves in situations where domestic violence is part of their lives to please seek help and support, speak to the guards or contact an organisation for help. We don't want another family to have to go through what we're going through".
