A senior Government source says many Ukrainian refugees are reluctant to leave their accommodation in hotels or sports halls in favour of rooms pledged by the public, as they don't want to separate from their new-found communities.

The Irish Independent reports 5 million euro is to be given to the renovation and maintenance of church-owned properties to house those fleeing conflict.

It's estimated 1,500 rooms from 44 different congregations will be given to the cause for free or at a low cost.

Michael Baskin, Head of the Ukrainian Crisis Centre, says avoiding the publicly pledged accommodation may not be good for integration.
