The wettest March on record in Cork is prompting many people to jet off to sun destinations this Easter weekend.
That's according to management at Cork Airport who say 45,000 people are set to travel through the airport this bank holiday weekend.
Schools and colleges are on Easter break and as a result thousands of families are heading away for some April sun.
Communications Manager at Cork Airport Barry Holland outlined to RedFM News the more popular destinations this Easter.
"At the moment what we're seeing is that people are taking the opportunity for the easter break, particularly families, to head out to sunnier destinations.
"The weather hasn't been great with the wettest March on record, so people are heading for some sun in places like Spain, Portugal, the Canaries, down as far as Italy. We're seeing a lot of people going to sun destinations.
"A lot of people are taking the opportunity as well to visit some of the great city break destinations that we have, for example Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Venice.
"There's a great selection of destinations, both sun destinations and city break destinations available from Cork Airport, and a lot of people are choosing Cork Airport because there's a great selection there."
