The Fianna Fail leader says he hopes outstanding issues in government formation talks can be resolved over the next couple of days.
Talks are continuing between between Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and the Greens on a programme for government.
Climate change has been identified as one key policy area that needs to addressed.
Michael Martin insists progress is being made.
"We have made progress on quite a number of areas.
"There are still some challenges there in terms of areas such as climate change and so on.
"But we are making progress on them, and I would hope we could bring some of those issues to resolution over the next couple of days."
