The former President of Ireland has issued a stark warning that unless world leaders act on climate change the world is heading for potential catastrophe

Mary Robinson has urged governments to do more in the aftermath of COP27.

The Climate Change conference failed to delivered on a commitment by the world's major emitters to phase down fossil fuels, nor new commitments on climate mitigation.

Mary Robinson Chair of the Elders Group of former world leaders said time is running out.

"We're in a very worrying paradox at the moment, particularly coming out of the conference in Egypt.

"We're on the cusp of a clean energy world, with lots of cooperation and lots of innovation and commitment.

"But - we are in fact headed for a 2.4 degree warmer world, which would be catastrophic."
