A mental health charity is urging those setting New Year's resolutions not to set themselves up for disappointment.

A U.S. survey found more than one in three people will set themselves goals for 2023.

Improving physical health, exercising more and eating healthier are the most popular ambitions for people in the new year.

Turn2Me CEO Fiona O'Malley says resolutions can also be about taking up a hobby:

"It might also be a good idea to consider starting something new, instead of giving something up at New Year's. So you could start a new part-time course, you could sign up for a walking or hiking group, join a book club or a drama society. New Year's is a great time for new beginning and starting a new project, and it doesn't always have to mean extreme detoxes and rigid diets".
