The Minister for Health hopes a combined Covid and flu vaccine will be possible in the months ahead.
Stephen Donnelly says he's been in touch with NIAC about the prospect of the combined jab.
It comes as a very significant flu season along with an upsurge in Covid cases is expected in the autumn.
Minister Donnelly says the single flu vaccine will be free again this year for certain groups:
"I've secured additional funding already this year to make it free for the same groups as last year, but given this potentially perfect storm of the flu, COVID and whatever else I've asked that night to see, can we go further? What I would like to see is I'd like to see combined COVID and flu vaccinations that won't be for everybody. But what we know is that our public system is capable is absolutely world class in terms of the vaccine program."
