Over 4,000 books will be given away for free today at bus and train stations across the country.
The 'Read Mór' initiative is part of this year's 'Culture Night' programme, which gets underway today.
Here in Cork over 150 events are taking place across 85 different venues as part of Culture Night including Magic Lights by the Lee at the Concert Hall at City Hall which will see FishGoDeep joined by Conal Creedon.
The Greatest Showman is the movie of choice at the outdoor cinema at Mallow Castle tonight and Culture Buses will from City hall every 20 minutes from 7pm and will feature Words in Motion- spoken word performances by Cork poets and writers on board.
Director of the Arts Council Maureen Kennelly says the free books available today as part of Read Mór will celebrate Irish writers.
