More than 49 thousand people reported a case of domestic violence to Gardaí this year.
Figures released by the Gardaí found there's been a 9% increase since 2021.
Chief Superintendent Colm Noonan says they want to make the process as easy as possible for victims:
"We're ready to engage with the victim and the survivor when they're ready. But if they're not ready to engage with An Garda Síochána, if they're not ready for the court process, then certainly we have a very, very good relationship with a number of the support services - and we will put that victim in touch with those support services. They will be able to give practical advice about what you can do now - before engaging with the criminal justice process".
