Gardai are today mounting roadside checks on tyres on vehicles for Tyre Safety Day.
Defective tyres are linked to 14 deaths annually.
The Gardai, the Road Safety Authority and the Irish Tyre Industry Association have teamed up to remind all road users to check their tyres to ensure they are roadworthy.
