Second level schoolchildren are suffering a 'loss of learning' because of increased anxiety according to school principals.
The warning comes from the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals, which has noticed this since the pandemic.
The group is holding it's annual conference in Galway today - with teacher shortages also among the main concerns.
Director Paul Crone, says student anxiety is becoming more common:
"It is an issue that is more prevalent and is impacting on students connecting with their learning, students attendance at school, and their general performance so it is a serious issue."
